From one park cleanup to a citywide movement.
The Green Initiative started with a simple frustration: a group of East Las Vegas residents who were tired of watching their neighborhood get dirtier, hungrier, and more isolated — with no one stepping in to help.
In the summer of 2019, eight of us showed up at Lorenzi Park with trash bags and no particular plan. We filled thirty bags in two hours. A neighbor took a photo and posted it. The next week, thirty people came.
Today, we run five programs across East Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and the Historic West Las Vegas District — supported by dozens of dedicated volunteers and formal partnerships with eight established community organizations. And we are just getting started.
